Omer Molad Co-Founder of Vervoe

Omer Molad, founder and CEO of Vervoe, and his mission is to make hiring about merit and not the background.

Vervoe replaces traditional hiring processes with skills assessments.

It allows candidates to show their talent through job-related tasks.

Vervoe was founded in 2016 by Omer Weinberg and David Weinberg.

Both are based in Melbourne, Australia.

Omer started his career in Israel, a startup nation.

He completed a degree in commerce and law, and then he began a career as a banker with ANZ.

Omer served in the Israeli Defense Force and then jumped into the Tel Aviv startup scene, where he worked at two companies before emigrating to Australia.

He experienced the inherent bias of traditional recruitment firsthand.

This experience shaped his opinions about what was missing and how to fix it.

Omer states, “To truly appreciate Roger Federer’s tennis skills, you must see him play.”

He is not as bright as he was in high school, nor will a casual chat over coffee.

A personality assessment will reveal his introverted nature.

You must see him play on the court to see his magic truly.

The best way to predict how someone will perform is to watch them in action.

Omer has been a highly-respected thought-leader in skills-based hiring since co-founding Vervoe.

Vervoe is a leader in the HR Tech sector, giving thousands of companies confidence to hire the best candidates every time.

What is the story of Vervoe?

We wanted technology to make every hiring process more transparent so that all applicants could showcase their talents.

David, my cofounder, read an article on how Automattic brings candidates in for job trials.

We invested together in a film and learned how auditions are cast.

How do you stay productive?

No one day is the same. My time is split between three areas: developing and hiring people, evangelizing our mission, talking to customers, and raising capital.

To make sure I have enough time to think, I limit my internal meetings.

This allows me to focus on the people outside of the company. However, anything can happen at any time.

How do you bring ideas to life?

David, my cofounder, helps me decide if the ideas are worth bringing to life.

However, I am not always the idea guy. Our mission is to make hiring about merit and not the background.

I am focused on making this a reality.

What’s your favorite trend?

It’s a relief that people aren’t saying, “you can only do it remotely.”

I heard about selling, fundraising, working, and everything else.

All of these things were done remotely starting from day one.

Then, covid taught everyone else that it was possible.

What habits make you productive?

I am very strict about how much time I spend on myself.

I will not spend my time on anything that doesn’t move the dial.

But, I will devote inexhaustible time to people or things that move the dial.

What’s your advice for the Noob?

Never give up and never compromise.

What is one thing we can all agree on?

Hard work is the only way to succeed, and those who are the most dedicated will be the most successful.

What do you recommend as an entrepreneur?

I consume a lot of information every day.

I quickly sort through it to find the most important.

People don’t drink that much, and they don’t do it often.

What’s your rich strategy?

Listening to customers describe their problems, then using the same language to define us.

How do you overcome Failure?

Is there only one? Haha. There are many. Each day, something breaks. I get up and learn.

Can you share a business idea?

Because ideas are not worth much if they’re not executed well, I’ll give away all of my thoughts.

What’s your recent best buy?

I purchased safety pants to wear when using my chainsaw to prevent my legs from being cut. You won’t find a better value for your money.

What are your favorite Softwares or Apps?

Although it may sound absurd, I often use screenshots to communicate messages visually. They are free

Which book would you recommend?

Range: Why generalists win in a technological world.

It helped me to make sense of my career and life.

It changed the way I see everything.

What’s your favorite quote?

“Life is what happens to your while you’re busy making plans for other things”

John Lennon

TL;DR by Omer Molad

It is a crazy job, but it is gratifying to be a founder.

It is essential to know what you don’t understand and bring others into the equation.

If you are a believer, don’t lose heart.

There are no rules, and there is nothing wrong with them.

You don’t have to feel forced to do something if you don’t feel it.
