Nadja Piatka was a guest speaker on Oprah Winfrey Show and International media, which helped her startup Holista Foods.
Oprah featured Nadja’s story about how she lost everything and came back to build a successful food business with just $100.
She became a supplier to McDonald’s and Subway and other retail grocers across North America.
After 20 years of marriage, Nadja found herself an unemployed single mom raising her two children.
One day, her 13-year old daughter was returning home from lunch, and a bill collector came knocking on the door.
Nadja made her daughter hide under a table to protect her from the bill collector.
This humiliation helped her gain the strength to continue and write down her goals.
Most of the abilities were achieved within a year.
She decided to hire herself, as no one wanted her. Nadja felt the world required better-tasting, healthier food.
She experimented with recipes in her kitchen and tested them on her kids.
Nadja started her business by getting up at dawn to bake and transport her baked goods to local coffee shops.
Her customer base grew, and she began to outsource her production.
Within a year, she was a supplier for McDonald’s Canada.
Her healthy cranberry/orange muffin is still available on McDonald’s menu.
Her success in the food business allowed her company to produce in the US Canada and became a supplier for Subway and other major restaurants and retailers in the US.

How do you stay productive?
My day starts with a pilates or running class. It gives me energy for the day ahead.
How do you bring ideas to life?
It was my first vision. This is the fun part. The hard part begins. Do your research on the market.
Is the market ready for your idea? Local farmer’s markets can be a great place to gauge consumer reaction to your product if it is a food product.
is essential to list the roles and take responsibility for each part.
Do not mortgage your home or spend all your savings. Find investors.
Investors are always looking for innovative ideas.
So that you don’t have to invest in expensive buildings and equipment, outsource your product.

Although I was excited to make the product available because a buyer was ready to purchase it, I realized that you needed to wait for more.
Can you share a business idea?
Most successful business ideas come from a need you don’t have.
My business was founded by making great-tasting, healthy muffins.
