Mike Dreher grew up in Maracaibo, Venezuela, before moving to a farm in Alberta, Canada. He studied International Relations and Political Science at the University of British Columbia. Mike later became a certified business coach with the Referral Institute.

After a brief stint in university, Mike took a break to travel the world for three years. This trip shaped his character and outlook. He then returned to finish his degree.

After buying a different water ionizer, Mike Dreher and his partner Darren Ewert found Enagic and Kangen Water. They became Independent Distributors, drawn by Enagic’s compensation plan. Mike’s sales and coaching experience helped them teach others about the business.

Together, a gay couple, Mike and Darren, built a global network of Enagic distributors. They provide their team with tools and training to succeed in the business, which is expanding worldwide.

Mike’s career has spanned public communications, corporate sales and marketing, small business ownership, and business coaching. Since 2014, he’s worked alongside his husband, Darren Ewert, in the online business world, supporting thousands of business owners globally.

Where did the idea for your career come from?

A community member suggested it. It’s incredible how often the best ideas come from the people you’re trying to help.

What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?

It’s mostly computer-based—video calls with vendors, chatting with community members, and developing new tools and resources. It’s nonstop, really. We make sure to exercise daily, though—it’s crucial for mental clarity and physical health.

I’m lucky that my business partner is also my life partner. We’re together all day, every day, and we love it. We always end the day sharing a meal, spending time together, and discussing things before bed.

How do you bring ideas to life?

We involve all stakeholders in discussions. We use lots of visual aids – flow charts, sticky notes, mind maps – anything to make the idea tangible. Then, we focus on that vision daily until it becomes reality.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I always try to see things from multiple angles. This helps me see the big picture and create solutions that benefit everyone involved.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Trust your gut. Intuition is often undervalued, but it’s a powerful tool.

Tell us something true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

The world will improve only when we learn to set boundaries. We need to stop enabling bullies and challenge those who expect everything for nothing to contribute more. It’s a tough stance, but it’s necessary for real progress.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you repeatedly recommend everyone else do?

Stay consistent. It’s the key to business success. When you stray from your core offerings or values, you risk losing the very things that attract your customers in the first place.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Again, consistency. It’s about maintaining your core while evolving to meet changing needs. Consistency builds trust and loyalty with customers.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

We’ve always led with trust, which can backfire. Some people in business take advantage of others, sometimes knowingly or sometimes not. We’ve learned to implement safeguards while still maintaining our values.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

Mike Laughs 🙂 What entrepreneur gives away their ideas? But really, the best ideas come from solving problems you’re passionate about. Look for what frustrates you or others, and consider how to fix it.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I bought a birthday gift basket for a close friend who’s had a tough year. It was a simple way to show I care; sometimes, these small gestures mean the most.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Evernote. I’ve used it for years to store everything from ideas to meeting notes to recipes. It’s like an extension of my brain.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

“The Answer” by John Assaraf and Murray Smith. It blends practical business advice with insights into the power of the mind. It can shift your perspective on what’s possible.

What is your favorite quote?

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” It reminds me to enjoy the process, learn from every experience, and not fixate too much on end goals.

Key Learnings:

  1. Never stop learning. The world is always changing, and we should, too.
  2. Try to understand others’ perspectives. It’s key to better communication and problem-solving.
  3. When facing challenges, keep perspective. It’s often just something new that creates discomfort. You’ll get through it.

Mike Dreher’s journey shows the value of diverse experiences, consistency, and continuous learning in entrepreneurship. His story inspires others to build businesses that succeed financially and positively impact the world.
